Grumpy Mr. Thompson

Good Day my name is Jake Thompson, I grew up with a great family. My childhood went prefect and everything that I could ever want I got. Some people say that I'm a spoiled brat, I on the other hand never agreed with those outragous claims. When I was 21 my brother Joe Thompson, told me "Lets go for a ride". Joe took me to the corner store where the owners just recently bought a new machine. It was an extremely large rectangular shaped contraption, with many blinking lights red, green, and blue. Just something to stare at in amazement, in the center, was a screen some what like a tv. Joe asked me "Jake do you have any quarters?" What for? I asked. Joe slapped me in the back of the head and, pointed at the contraption "You see this little slot"? You need to put one quarter in order to play, now give me one. Once I gave him the quarter, he slid the shinny quarter in. Before I could say anything the game started it was something called Ping. Where the objective of the game is to get the other player to miss the small white ball that hits a plank on either side of the screen if one player misses the ball the opponent gets a point. Once I understood how to play, Joe mopped the floor with me. He enjoyed every second of my misery, just seeing me, his little brother getting frustrated, was just a cherry on top. I felt a strange feeling building up in me, something that I never experienced before for I had the argue to hit my brother until he was knocked out, I was able to control that feeling. I soon realized that it was the video games fault on why I was feeling like this, from that day on I knew I wanted to make sure that no video game is released to avoid kids from getting that argue that i experienced that day. Just had one thing stopping me from doing that, what lie would I need to make? I know i will find any little thing inorder to ban a game. Like in Pac man it could advocat taking pills and eating people who stands in my way, it shows use of drugs and, cannibalism. Wow im good at this, if i keep this up i will be the most loved man on the face of the planet. After many years, and failed arguments, I found a new worst enemy Rockstar studios, with their GTA series this is as worst as it can get. Just recenlty a boy named Dustin Lynch murderd JoLynn Mishne, I know how i could relate this to Rockstars devilish game, the boy who commited the murder was absested with playing GTA 3 i could get this game banned. First I need to go talk to him and, his mother *Later that day* Alright I'm their attorney all thats left is to wait until the court date. Days went by and, I got a call a few weeks before the court date. It was Dustin Lynch's mom, she said that her son, apparently confessed saying that the game had nothing to do with the murder and he did it for his own satisfaction. That just sealed the case, oh well just maybe I could be wrong and games dont cause these anger moments.

Gee "d" Discourse

Between the two different discourses, i would guess that people who grew up with strict parents with manors, education, but didn't not care to much for speech and how to talk "Proper" might experience some tough times when going into the work force. Yes this person will be a great addition, however because he/she did not talk right that might effect their chances.

For many people things like this would cause a lot of problems, not only because some people can not afford "Fancy" cloths but others who do not have the education but the experience to do that certain task. What gives people the right to judge one by the cloths on someones back, if person A had all the experience needed to do whatever was asked, but did not dress well that's an automatic disqualification? On the other side we have person B who did dress well and presented him/her self great, but does not have the experience, gets the job why is that?

Violence in Video Games?

For those people who ever played any type of "Violent Game" ranging from old school like DOOM, Goldeneye for the N64, or something as new as Halo, and the COD series. If you did then you would know that those games where and still are great, forms of entertainment and just flat out fun to play. If you still do play games that are considered "Violent", you must of heard talk about how videos games cause people to kill or hurt others because they saw it in a video game and are reenacting it. Which brings me to my point Recently Yahoo U.K published an article talking about how in Germany, officials are talking about banning video games so it would help prevent "Crazy" people from killing others. In my opinion video games don't kill, in order for someone to "Kill" anyone that individual already must have a screw lose in his/her head. Serial killers in the 1950's didn't have violent video games in fact they had this game which was invented in 1958. Now how could something like that lead someone to kill, violent video games to the media is just a scapegoat. From what I can gather from this article, it would seem that Germany, and U.K yahoo are just trying to get all of the people reading this to realize that video games is the reason why people do what they do. They also seem to have a negative tone through out this article, just talking about how one game can cause a large problem to happen. There is definitely positively, NO way that violent video games is the sole reason why people who play video games kill. I have been an active gamer for pretty much all my life, I have played all the Halo games, all the Gears of War, most of the Unreal games and even some of the most controversial games like the Manhunt series. To this day I yet to have any thoughts about killing anyone. Or any forms of extreme aggression. To me its more than what you listen to, or play more the surroundings that you have.

I Believe No Pain NO Game!

Over the past 2 years at high school I come to a conclusion! You cant get any where in life with out having some type of pain involved, not physical pain necessarily, but more mental pain. At the beginning of my Sophomore year I met my World History teacher. Mr.Bradley from the moment I met him I knew i was in for a tough year, his entire class room is decorated with large pieces of paper that depict life is not all easy. From their on, that individual pushed me more than any other teach has ever before. For that i thank him, I say this because it is also true for my brother who is going to attend Marquette dental School in Milwaukee in the fall.

He to had someone to push him, this person for him was not a teacher, but more a babysitter. She kept an eye on him, and myself who was 3 at the time. She pretty much made him study all day, at the time he thought that she was a witch and all she was doing was making his life a living hell. When he came to high school he did not have a clue if he was going to go to college. By his sophomore year his GPA was approximately 2.7, once he found out that he wanted to be a doctor, he really needed to up his game. So he did he studied for everything, and he pulled off a 4.0 his junior and senior year of high school. He made large strides once in college, and this April he graduated Parkside, he did change his mind on being a Doctor to a dentist, more for the free time a dentist would have over a doctor. The fact that he was the first in our family to graduate college was big. Not only did hehe graduated, but with prestige of being chosen for the Chancellors award.

The chancellors award is the highest achievement one can be awarded in college.
