Violence in Video Games?

For those people who ever played any type of "Violent Game" ranging from old school like DOOM, Goldeneye for the N64, or something as new as Halo, and the COD series. If you did then you would know that those games where and still are great, forms of entertainment and just flat out fun to play. If you still do play games that are considered "Violent", you must of heard talk about how videos games cause people to kill or hurt others because they saw it in a video game and are reenacting it. Which brings me to my point Recently Yahoo U.K published an article talking about how in Germany, officials are talking about banning video games so it would help prevent "Crazy" people from killing others. In my opinion video games don't kill, in order for someone to "Kill" anyone that individual already must have a screw lose in his/her head. Serial killers in the 1950's didn't have violent video games in fact they had this game which was invented in 1958. Now how could something like that lead someone to kill, violent video games to the media is just a scapegoat. From what I can gather from this article, it would seem that Germany, and U.K yahoo are just trying to get all of the people reading this to realize that video games is the reason why people do what they do. They also seem to have a negative tone through out this article, just talking about how one game can cause a large problem to happen. There is definitely positively, NO way that violent video games is the sole reason why people who play video games kill. I have been an active gamer for pretty much all my life, I have played all the Halo games, all the Gears of War, most of the Unreal games and even some of the most controversial games like the Manhunt series. To this day I yet to have any thoughts about killing anyone. Or any forms of extreme aggression. To me its more than what you listen to, or play more the surroundings that you have.

  1. I agree with you completely most people that blame all of societie's problems on simulated violence and rap music are all just raving assholes (like jack thompson).

In addition all studies against video games lead to evidence that is completely subjective.

This is a good read indeed.

  2. completely agree with you, i also played Halo, Unreal, GTA, resident evil,BloodRayne 2, etc. and as you said i haven't thought about doing any harm to people, and i think that the people only use video games as a excuse to try to get away from what they did. and i believe that banning video games would make them realize their mistake because no matter what you do there is always "crazy" people around, and they'll find another excuse to get away whit it.

Video games are good for people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Long live Video Games
